- Read authors who inspire you.
- Keep a diary or journal.
- Set aims for your writing e.g. this year I am going to write a set of short
- stories.
- Put time in your schedule each week for writing.
- Write where you are most productive e.g. café, home.
- Be honest and true to yourself in your writing.
- Send early drafts of your writing to members of your group for peer reviews

- board.
- Set a timeline for your writing goals.
- Be clear regarding your reasons for writing.
- Make writing a priority.
- Engage a mentor for your writing who closely reads your writing and gives
- feedback and is also someone to discuss writing issues with
- Send a summary of your writing to publishers who you feel will be interested
- in your type of writing using the writer’s yearbook.
